Dr Patel is known for being present in the community and being very involved in the local as well as international Community.
Locally, he volunteers at the local Medical and Dental Clinics on a regular basis, specifically the HVAC Dental Clinic in Lakeway and Downtown Austin and at the Marble Falls Rotary Dental Clinic. He is known for sponsoring many Lake Travis School Organizations and for volunteering his time and skills. He has been very involved with the Bee Caves chapter of Rotary International and has served as their International Projects committee chair. He also volunteers with Mobile Loaves and Fishes on a regular basis. He has also recently teamed with many other local Dentists and the Lake Travis Education Foundation to create a the Lake Travis Dental Associations ANNUAL Health Professions/Dental Scholarship that will benefit local High School Students. He has also teamed up with local Dentists for a Tooth Brush Drive to benefit the local shelter/food pantry to help those in need. Dr. Patel also shares his expertise with the community, speaking to local healthcare specialists, professional groups and students. He also serves as a mentor to young dental students. In 2009 his Business was nominated by the Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce for Business of the year and 2010 as an Unsung Hero in the Community.
Dr Patel is very passionate about giving back internationally as well. Over the past 10 years Dr Patel has actually completed several dental volunteer trips on several continents.
He has completed Dental Volunteer trips to:

- Managua, Nicaragua
- Sacred Valley, Peru
- Curitiba, Brazil
- Kalahari, Africa
- Dominican Republic
One of his goals is to be able to complete dental volunteer projects around the world. He usually completes one international dental volunteer trip every year and he has been focused the last 2 years specifically on helping improving Dental Care in Haiti through Hope Smiles and Mission of Hope Haiti.
Africa Dental Volunteer Trip
Dr. Patel recently completed a dental volunteer trip to Africa in August 2012. Dr. Patel visited Tswalu Kalahari in Southern Africa and Livingstone Town in Zambia. Dr. Patel volunteered at the Tswalu Dental Clinic. The dental clinic provides important dental healthcare and education.

Along with the Dental Clinic, there is a Medical and Eye clinic, all of which helps to provide healthcare and education to the people in this remote part of the country. The clinic contracts medical and dental professionals who are willing to volunteer, treat patients, and share their expertise. Dr. Patel was also able to donate over 150 toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss with the help of Carey Barrs of Benco Dental Supplies. They were also able to donate much needed dental supplies and equipment to the dental clinic. Doctor Patel volunteered his time to help treat many individuals while staying at Tswalu. In the Tswalu village there is also a school for children. Dr. Patel was able to help educate and treat many of the school children on their oral health. At the school, Dr. Patel and his family were able to donate school supplies to the young children and teachers.
Dr. Tejas Patel and his team traveled to Haiti from Sept 19th to Sept 26th for a Dental Mission trip where he volunteered his time to help those in need of dental care. Team members Mitzi Nava, RDH and Kalyin Gomez, RDH also volunteered to help and treat those in Haiti.
Along with 2 other dentists and several dental volunteers, Dr. Patel and team set up a dental clinic in a local church and were able to set up 7 dental chairs.
Brush By Brush
Brush by Brush, is a giving back concept developed by Dr Tejas Patel. With Brush by Brush Dr Patel commits to donating atleast 500 toothbrushes and dental hygiene products each year to those in need.
In the past those who have benefitted are local and international non- profit organizations. Dr Patel has donated tooth brushes to local schools, local Rotary Clubs, Mobile Loaves and Fishes, as well as in conjunction with his international volunteer trips.
The goal of Brush by Brush is to help those in need with the basic necessities to care for their oral health and also to inspire other Dental Offices to donate to those in need through organizations that they are involved with.
