Invisalign Treatment Process
Invisalign is a simple solution : Clear plastic trays that are used to guide your teeth into proper alignment. Unlike the placement of traditional braces, there's no bonding or wires involved, and everything can be performed quickly and painlessly at the office. No anesthesia is required.
Before Invisalign Tray Placement
Before you receive a dental tray, you will have a consultation with Dr. Patel, which includes an examination of the alignment and condition of your teeth. While Invisalign is the perfect solution for a majority of patients, there may be some alignment issues that will require traditional braces. Again, the consultation period is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the solutions that are available.
If Invisalign is right for your treatment, Dr. Patel will then perform 3D imaging and take a mold of your bite to move on to the next step.
Placement of Invisalign Tray
Once the 3D imaging and mold are used to fabricate the initial dental tray, Dr. Patel will place it on the patient's teeth and determine that it is the proper fit. If everything is alright, then a schedule will be set for patients to come back to the office for a follow-up exam, and for the next tray in the series.
With each tray that follows, the shape of the teeth will be adjusted gradually. It makes for a less tense and uncomfortable adjustment, as compared to wire bracket braces. It's also a process that emphasizes the cosmetic alignment of teeth, which means that it can work in much less time. Patients may be able to conclude treatment in under a year.
Patients will receive follow-up care to determine that Invisalign has indeed been successful at straightening their teeth. Comparisons of before-and-after images should be enough to determine that the alignment is both correct and permanent.
It's really just that simple. In less than 12 months, many patients can go from having a smile that they often hide, to one that they're proud to show off. Both adults and teenagers alike find it extremely easy to manage the Invisalign trays, and working adults in particular appreciate both the short treatment time required and the clear, invisible trays themselves.
